Mediation
Is there a conflict between colleagues, within a team or between an employee and their manager? Two Ears works with independent mediators who help get the conversation going again and find agreements that work.
Book a callA conflict at work can have a big impact on the people involved, on collaboration and on the rest of the team. When conversations get stuck or positions harden, independent mediation can help.
The mediator provides a neutral setting where everyone can share their perspective. Together, the parties explore what's going on, what their interests and needs are and whether there's room for agreement.
What does mediation involve?
The mediator guides the conversation, oversees the process and makes sure everyone has the space to tell their story. The mediator doesn't take sides or decide who is right. Depending on the situation, the process includes:
- a separate introductory conversation with each party;
- one or more joint sessions;
- exploring the causes and consequences of the conflict;
- discussing interests, needs and expectations;
- making workable agreements and, if desired, putting them in writing.
The parties decide for themselves whether they reach an agreement and what that agreement looks like.
When can mediation help?
Mediation can help with, for example:
- a breakdown in the working relationship between colleagues;
- a conflict between an employee and their manager;
- tension within a team;
- recurring communication problems;
- a situation that still affects collaboration after a report or complaint.
Mediation works best when the people involved are willing to talk and look for solutions together.
Independent, experienced mediators
Two Ears works with dedicated mediators who are experienced in workplace conflict and safety. We carefully consider which mediator best fits the situation and your organisation.
The mediator works independently and in confidence. If Two Ears is already involved as confidential counsellor, we keep the roles separate: the mediator is never the same person as the confidential counsellor who supported one of the parties.
